Cheap Dental Plans – Don’t Waste Your Time On These Cheap Dental Plans

May 1, 2008 · Leave a Comment

There are a lot of cheap dental plans floating around online now. I’ve seen advertisements for dental insurance as low as $6.95 per month and several others in the same price range. The price of these dental plans is cheap, but the question that I have is are they any good? If a dental plan doesn’t offer decent coverage, then it’s worthless, no matter how cheap it is.

When I refer to decent coverage, I’m talking about providing for cleanings, x-rays, fluoride treatments, check-ups, ect. without having to pay a lot out of my own pocket? What about major dental work? Do these cheap dental plans cover things like braces, root canals, dentures or anything else similar? What if I have a dental emergency right now! Let’s say that I’m in major pain right this minute. Will one of these cheap dental plans provide any coverage for me and if so, how much?

I have news for you. The majority of these cheap dental plans are not good. The coverage that they provide is extremely limited and if you have an existing condition that needs to be repaired, even if it’s an emergency, your policy will not cover you. Pre-existing conditions require a one year waiting period before dental insurance will begin to help you with the costs. I’m talking 10% after the first year, 25% after the second. Great deal huh?

The solution that you need is called a discount dental plan. These cheap dental plans, well not cheap quality. Actually, I prefer to use the word inexpensive, are not insurance, that way they’re able to give you big discounts off both routine dental care, like cleanings, to major dental work, like braces. Plans begin at $80 per year for an individual and you’ll save as much as sixty percent off your dental costs!

Summary – If you’ve been looking at the same cheap dental plans that I have recently, do yourself a favor and don’t waste your time. Dental discount plans offer the best savings around.
